There’s a unique delicateness in Corinne’s voice. She manages to create a level of intimacy that feels like she is singing only to you.
It has a quality that transpires some sort of innocence and honesty as if she can only speak truth and notes are coming straight from her heart instead of her lungs. Unfiltered. Crystal clear.
Her voice goes through any sort of emotional shield you are wearing and disarms you, casting a spell. And it’s not just in this song. The whole album is incredibly charming, but I really like how the music beautifully matches the lyrics on this one. How the harmony adds up to highlight the brightness of the moments of sweet nostalgia and the pain and the sadness when love falls apart.
I don’t know if this song is based on a true story. In any case, I want to state for the record that I’m 100% on Corinne’s side. I’m sure that she is more than able to defend herself, but if I ever meet the guy who broke her heart I will point at him with my ugliest angry face and yell at him: How dare you!!!
